David Fobes
"Chromantic"
September 5, 2008 –
October 10, 2008

Until I saw
these art works, I had no idea there are so many colors of duct
tape. David has mastered handling this temperamental material.
He is able to control the warp and weft of the tape and lay it
down on board so that the final result appears like marquetry.
In the artist’s
words – these new two-dimensional works constructed only with
color duct tapes, “incorporate an architectural vision,
combined with a painter’s eye for a flip flop between plastic
illusion and planar flatness and illusory color transparency.”
This exhibition
is being presented in conjunction with the David Zapf Gallery.
There
will be a reception with the artist
